Waiting on Wednesday #6

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted at Breaking The Spine where we spotlight upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating!

It seems like I'm going back to some memes that I haven't done in a while! This week I bring you a book and a music album! (If you saw my last post you can probably guess what's coming!)

This week's literary pick is Dear Killer by Katherine Ewell! (April/March 1st, 2014)

Rule One—Nothing is right, nothing is wrong.

Rule Two—Be careful.
Rule Three—Fight using your legs whenever possible, because they’re the strongest part of your body. Your arms are the weakest.
Rule Four—Hit to kill. The first blow should be the last, if at all possible.
Rule Five—The letters are the law.

Kit takes her role as London’s notorious “Perfect Killer” seriously. The letters and cash that come to her via a secret mailbox are not a game; choosing who to kill is not an impulse decision. Every letter she receives begins with “Dear Killer,” and every time Kit murders, she leaves a letter with the dead body. Her moral nihilism and thus her murders are a way of life—the only way of life she has ever known.

But when a letter appears in the mailbox that will have the power to topple Kit’s convictions as perfectly as she commits her murders, she must make a decision: follow the only rules she has ever known, or challenge Rule One, and go from there.

Katherine Ewell’s Dear Killer is a sinister psychological thriller that explores the thin line between good and evil, and the messiness of that inevitable moment when life contradicts everything you believe.

Doesn't it sound really intriguing? A female serial killer is not a very common thing and the whole story sounds interesting! I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Now, for the music! I swear I will keep talking about these guys until they get the recognition they deserve! I know that they only sing in Portuguese so most part of you won't be able to understand the words but they're really really good and I think they might already be recording an album!
They are called Aurora! You can find them at @osauroraoficial, facebook, instagram and youtube!
What do you guys think of them? :)

Waiting on Wednesday #5

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event  hosted at Breaking The Spine where we spotlight upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating!

My pick this week is Hurt by Tabitha Suzuma (September 5, 2013)

Why? is the burning question on everyone’s lips. Why would a guy like Mathéo Walsh want to die? At seventeen, he is Britain’s most promising diving champion. He is a heartthrob, a straight A student and lives in one of the wealthiest areas of London. He has great mates and is the envy of everyone around him. And most importantly of all, he is deeply in love with his girlfriend, Lola. He has always been a stable, well-adjusted guy...

Until one weekend. A weekend he cannot seem to remember. All he knows is that he has come back a changed person. One who no longer knows how to have fun, no longer wants to spend time with his friends, no longer enjoys diving. Something terrible happened that weekend – something violent and bloody and twisted. He no longer knows who he is. He no longer trusts himself around people: he only wants to hurt, wound and destroy. Slowly, he begins to piece back the buried, fragmented memories, and finds himself staring at the reflection of a monster.

Tormented, Mathéo suddenly finds himself faced with the most devastating choice of his life. Keep his secret, and put those closest to him in terrible danger. Or confess, and lose Lola forever...

I think this sounds quite intersting and I'm rather intrigued about what happened on that weekend! Besides, look at that face! I have said it before and I'll say it again...don't you just want to hug him? I know I do! (Again, if someone has nay idea who this majestic creature is, please let me know :3)

What do you guys think? And what are you waiting for this week? :)

Waiting on Wedesday #4

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event  hosted at Breaking The Spine where we spotlight upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating!

For this week I chose The Museum of Intanible Things by Wendy Wunder (April 10th, 2014)
I have to admit that I saw this book on someone else's waiting on wednesday post a couple of weeks ago and ever since that I decided that I have to read this!

Loyalty. Envy. Obligation. Dreams. Disappointment. Fear. Negligence. Coping. Elation. Lust. Nature. Freedom. Heartbreak. Insouciance. Audacity. Gluttony. Belief. God. Karma. Knowing what you want (there is probably a French word for it). Saying Yes. Destiny. Truth. Devotion. Forgiveness. Life. Happiness (ever after).

Hannah and Zoe haven’t had much in their lives, but they’ve always had each other. So when Zoe tells Hannah she needs to get out of their down-and-out New Jersey town, they pile into Hannah’s beat-up old Le Mans and head west, putting everything—their deadbeat parents, their disappointing love lives, their inevitable enrollment at community college—behind them.

As they chase storms and make new friends, Zoe tells Hannah she wants more for her. She wants her to live bigger, dream grander, aim higher. And so Zoe begins teaching Hannah all about life’s intangible things, concepts sadly missing from her existence—things like audacity, insouciancekarma, and even happiness.

An unforgettable read from the acclaimed author of The Probability of MiraclesThe Museum of Intangible Things sparkles with the humor and heartbreak of true friendship and first love.

I should start by saying that this cover is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen and that I would probably buy the book without reading the blurb just beacuse of the cover! :3

What do you think? What book are you desperately waiting for?

Waiting on Wednesday #3

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event  hosted at Breaking The Spine where we spotlight upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating!

First of all, I have to apologize for the lack of posts but I recently found out that I actually failed my last subject at school so I have to take a final oral exam (why does it have to be oral? why??). With that being said, I'l also be M.I.A until next week!

So, moving on from my disappointing academic achievements...the book I am waiting for this week is To All The Boys I've Loved Before - Jenny Han (April 22nd, 2014)

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the story of Lara Jean, who has never openly admitted her crushes, but instead wrote each boy a letter about how she felt, sealed it, and hid it in a box under her bed. But one day Lara Jean discovers that somehow her secret box of letters has been mailed, causing all her crushes from her past to confront her about the letters…

I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but look at it! It's so pretty! I love how the title seems to be written with a pen or a sharpie!
The blurb sounds quite cute aswell, it somehow sounds like it would be a really sweet and quick to read book. :)

What do you think of this book? And what book(s) are you desperatly waiting for?

P.S - I just realised today is not wednesday...my head is a complete mess!

Waiting On Wednesday #1

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event  hosted at Breaking The Spine where we spotlight upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating!

For my first Waiting on Wednesday I chose: 3:59 - Gretchen McNeil (September 17th 2013)

(Summary from Amazon)
From Possess and Ten author Gretchen McNeil comes a deliciously eerie science-fiction horror story in the tradition of Lisa McMann's Wake trilogy and the movie Sliding Doors.
Josie Byrne's life is spiraling out of control. And just when she thinks it can't get worse, she wakes to an image of herself in the bedroom mirror. Except it's not her at all—the girl in the mirror is blonder and prettier. And her name is Jo.
The two girls are doppelgängers whose universes overlap every twelve hours at 3:59. Fascinated by Jo's perfect world, Josie jumps at the chance to pass through the portal and switch places for a day.
But Jo's world is far from perfect, and the stuff of nightmares lurks around every corner. And when Josie finds herself trapped there, her life becomes more dangerous—and more deadly—than she ever imagined.

This sounds so good! I really like the idea of the overlapsed universes and the switching of places. I hope it is as good as it sounds! So, what book are you waiting for?
